Yoga & Walking the Path of Self-Compassion
with Teagan Schweitzer
Self-compassion is comprised of three core components: self-kindness, recognition of our common humanity, & mindfulness. It involves a desire for health and well-being for yourself that results in proactive behavior to improve your situation. In this workshop, we will explore the concept of self-compassion through specifically designed exercises to help us unwind our critical self-talk and cultivate a kinder way of treating ourselves. We will also weave these profound concepts into a thoughtful and supportive asana practice so that we can marry the mind, body, and spirit in the most self-compassionate ways possible. When we soothe our agitated minds with self-compassion, we’re better able to notice what’s “right” as well as what’s “wrong”, so that we can orient ourselves toward that which gives us joy. Let’s get more joyful together!
All levels are welcome.

AGNI: Fire Flow Backbends, Pranayama and Vision
with Sianna Sherman
Awaken your heart fire in this uplifting practice of backbends, mantra, mudra and pranayama. Agni is the Sanskrit word for “fire”. Agni governs passion, transmutation and release of old stuck patterns. Backbends help untie the knots of the heart, transform fear and open the physical and subtle bodies to the healing power of love. This intelligent sequence pulses symmetrical and asymmetrical backbends to build healthy alignment for the back and builds a steady foundation for a lifetime of practice. This sequence increases vitality, strengthens the posterior chain of muscles, clarifies the mind and kindles the fire of the heart to blaze more brightly.
Rasa Yoga is a bhakti fusion of asana, mantra, mudra, myth, pranayama, meditation, functional anatomy, Tantric yoga philosophy, shadow work, and soul alchemy.
Date: October 5th, 11:00am - 1:30pm

SOMA: NectarFlow Hips, Mantra and Meditation
with Sianna Sherman
Bathe in the nectar of yoga with deep hips, twists, inversions, mantra and meditation. This session turns inside with a more introspective practice of self-acceptance and reflection. The alchemy of yoga holds the essential understanding that a balanced yoga practice is both Fire & Nectar. The heating aspect of the practice is called tapasya – “that which heats up” or agni – “fire” and the cooling aspect of the practice is called soma – “moonlight” or that which offers the nectar of the practice. Agni & Soma together offer a balanced energy so the yogin both burns away the dross and receives nourishment through the practices. Without fire in the practice, there is no transformation. Without coolness in the practice, then the yogi can burn out. Fire & Nectar are the complementary opposites and the yogin cultivates both in practice and life.
Rasa Yoga is a bhakti fusion of asana, mantra, mudra, myth, pranayama, meditation, functional anatomy, Tantric yoga philosophy, shadow work, and soul alchemy.

PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA PRACTICE
with Lisa Miracchi
You've probably heard teachers say that yoga is more than just exercise, but what, exactly, makes the difference? How can our deepest beliefs and values show up in something as concrete as Warrior II? In this workshop we'll learn about different philosophical traditions and cultivate our own reflective relationship to our practice. We will learn about some of the different Indian and Western philosophies that inform contemporary yoga in the U.S. and explore how these very abstract ideas can influence our practice. We'll also ask some hard questions: What if our beliefs conflict with some of these traditional ideas? How can we critically but respectfully draw from these ancient traditions without fetishizing or appropriating them? How can we responsibly practice yoga in a contemporary Western context? Join us as we deepen our yoga and meditation practices by reflecting on their theoretical foundations in community.

REJUVENATING BACKBEND WORKSHOP
with Valentina Drobot
For many of us backbends can be emotionally and physically challenging. They are pretty much the opposite of what life invites us to do every day when we are texting, driving, working at your computer, etc. Backbends ask you to open your physical and energetic heart bravely inviting the present moment in. In this two-hour workshop we will learn how to lift your spirit via backbends and how to shine your heart in healthy & supportive ways. We will start with some yin poses to lubricate the joints and quiet the self-talk. You will be guided into profound backbends where we will learn how to maintain integrity and activate the muscles to support an even and integrated bend in your spine as opposed to “dropping” into your backbends. In the wake of this category of poses, the mind becomes clear and focused. We will finish with a soothing lower back release postures and lavender oil infused eye pillows so you can come back home happier than ever.

CORE CONNECTION
with Lisa Miracchi
New year, no need for a new you. The one you've got is already amazing! We ring in the New Year by practicing an affirming perspective on core work. Core work can bring up some difficult emotions and memories for a lot of us. Culturally, it's often attached to a "no pain, no gain" mentality, to the idea that we aren't enough: thin enough, strong enough... you name it. Especially this time of year, when we are bombarded with messages that we are supposed to be ashamed of our bodies, it is all that more important to practice celebrating them in community.
Here we work on alchemizing our past experiences with core work to develop a healthier relationship to ourselves and our bodies. Activating and moving from the very center of our beings can remind us that we already are enough, and that we have everything we need. We will practice feeling our own inner strength and light that is always with us (because it is us), and we will playfully and lovingly cultivate them so that we move forward on our paths from a place of even greater brilliance and integrity. All bodies warmly welcome!
